Sad to say but the Dach and Newhook injuries salvaged his season

Hawks signed a bunch of UFAs last summer.

Before that they tried to be competitive under GM Stanley but simply made poor decisions

They fucked up like the Habs getting squat for Kane , JT , Seebrook etc....

They changed it up because of the Oilers

Maybe not win the lotto, but such a team will still get a very high, top end pick. Too much reward for incompetency, or deliberately being bad, whatever.

Those FAs weren't much of it. Perry, Foligno, Hall were to protect or play with Bedard,and none of them nor Donato were going to move the needle much, probably by design. A goalie might have helped with that.
