Habsy
Not playing around anymore.
I would argue that number is more like 4 not 8.First off everything depends on where Habs sit as deadline nears. Assuming they’re less than 8pts from wildcard…
Overrated imo. The second group went deep enough 3 years ago to remember.53% of this roster needs to play meaningful high intensity games into April for continued future growth - Slaf, Dach, Heineman, Guhle, Hutson, Xhekaj, Struble, Diekembe have never been in such games at NHL level. Suzuki, Caufield, Laine, Newhook, Evans need to refresh themselves on what those games involve again.
I disagree. Dvorak is a center and good on the dot. He'll get a second from somewhere and that second doesn't have to be this year, we do have enough so stock up future years which teams are more willing to give up.So keep em all. Dvorak, Savard, Armia will likely net mid round picks …. Habs have enough of those. Think of them as deadline acquisitions - don’t want to mess with team chemistry.
Savard another second, easily.
Armia is 31. I like the player but at what price? $3m?3.5? 3 year max.
We need to see if this is a hot streak or if the extra ice time has helped him finally figure it out. Either way he's playing himself into Anderson money. I like Jake, honest player, but for the right offer of a prospect and pick I move him.IMO Evans extends $3.5M / 4yrs, taking him to 32 for his retirement contract on what should be good teams during duration of the deal playing for a coach who trusts him.
That’s over 2x his existing $alary - 4th liners / specialists usually go for term over AAV
Squeaking into a WC spot is a double edge sword. On one hand you get those meaningful games you mentioned but on the other you lull yourself into a belief that this team is better than it really is so I would rather sell the assets.
I don't believe this run will last unless Dobes is the new Binnington so I expect them to be sellers.
