Even at 50% retention, he still has a 2.5M hit, and what role would he play on a good team? That’s not exactly the type of role player that teams are looking for.

His cap hit should be around 1.5 by then ?

He is still better value than the stupid trades for middle six players

I get all that, but is it the best use of that space and more importantly what role would he play. He’s not good enough for the top 6 and doesn’t have the intangibles that teams are looking for on the bottom 6.

Caps have had major injuries , if it continues a top 9 role would be ideal.
