GDT | Game 50 | @ Capitals | Tuesday, February 6 | 7:00PM EST

I can excuse his countless brainfarts as he shouldn't be 25 minutes nor be anyone's #1. But I can't excuse his selfish plays while QB'ing the pp. I thought Guhle was much better than him when he ran it more last year.
You prefer the guy that has 0 career PP points over the one who has the second most on the team this season after Suzuki?

I didn't realize that for some reason. I stand totally corrected. Why is it I remember him looking good on the PP, I don't know. I guess I don't like Matheson on the PP just based on my anecdotal eye test. His decision-making seems bad to me. And he doesn't like to pass to wide open players, like Slafkovsky many a time. And as much as he gets his points, he's a turnover machine many nights. We need a true #1 PP guy, maybe Hutson is that guy.

Carolina got .842 goaltending tonight…

On 19 shots.

Lost 3-2.
Not sure if anyone listened to Aaron Ward segment on Melnick’s TSN690 show the other day - talked about how analytics show Habs are 3rd worst in NHL, for allowing Dzone entries, driven by extremely high rate of odd man rushes given up to opposition (2-on-1, 3-on-1, 3-on-2s), and how that makes Habs G performances (for all 3G) even more impressive.

Point of discussion was Canes are tops in the league in limiting Dzone entries, based on their fwd’s supporting the back check, which makes the acquisition of someone like Allen a very logical move - i.e Canes simply need a steady veteran G to play behind that fwd + D group, and Allen would fit that need

nah no trades with Dundon

Monty for A Ho,let’s go

And look at Carolina’s D. Most are UFAs at the end of this season. And everyone will be a UFA at the end of next season. It’s a veteran D and the cycle is ending, perhaps this year. Yet they have AHL goaltending.

4th round pick would be fine…

Their window is over soon

Canes are not overpaying Slavin , Pesce and others in their 30`s

1st round pick + Kotkaniemi cap dump for Allen + Evans

Maybe they could trade us Kotkaniemi for Allen?

KK is on pace for 30pts, has played less than 9.5TOI 3-of last-5 GP. Knowing how Dundon is profitability first at all costs - I’d be shocked if KK isn’t on track to be bought out.

Canes don’t have cap space but need steady G. Allen + Evans combined AAV < $300K less than KKs. Evans fills the 4C void being served by KK.

Cost of doing business is a 1st rounder + a tweet showing Canes taking it up the a$$

Buyout in 2 years for KK before 26

Matheson is on a 60pt pace this season
Was on a 60pt pace last year.

Fans should forgive the occasional brain farts from offensive drivers who log a lot of minutes.
And that's why I would be looking to trade him at the deadline or at the draft. I think he can bring back significant value as part of a package for a young forward.

Maybe next year. We don't have anyone ready to take over his role right now.
