GDT Game 69: @ Lightning, Saturday, April 2, 7:00 PM EST

They certainly had their legs tonight. And yes, good on Marty for playing the kids, Harris and Barron, in OT. And what do we have in Corey Schueneman I wonder? I am more impressed all the time. He's no high profile kid....neither was Mark Giordano.......ok, maybe I'm stretching.

Mixed feeling about the result. It was a good game. Glad to see our rookie D’s Schueneman and Barron show their feisty sides. Harris played well in his first game too. Our rookie forwards #’s 22 & 32 were also impressive excluding the shootout.

Schueneman's a nice story, same as Pezzetta, but let's be honest: How many teams in the NHL would have roster spots for them?

They're on the team because of injuries & we're at the bottom of the league. In any other circumstances, they're AHLers.

Not trolling when I say this: I have no idea if St. Louis's a good coach or not.

The fact that he plays the young players a lot tells me nothing except that he isn't conservative and that it's in the long-term interest to play the young players.

I’m now convinced that St.Louis is, and will be, a good coach. The way the players react to him says it all. But his use of rookies don’t tell me much since the season is lost anyway so he can do all the experiments he wants. However I’ve seen other coaches in the same situation still play their old vets, so there is that.

I don’t think he comes back next year , took the job as a school project

I don’t see him going 24/7 for 6 months

I could see him in some other department but not the grind of coaching

CS at least gives us a reliable depth D when injuries happen.

Pezzetta I keep on the fourth line , brings some size and energy and chips in the odd goal

Pitlick and RP on the cheap are ok as well in bottom 6 roles

Good win. The guys showed up for their coach.

I wonder if he put money on the board for the game.

Marty is a lion.

If he's our version of Brindi, the future is bright.

I suppose. I was thinking the same. He is older, so you'd figure he is not going to develop much more. No one knew who he was, till now (hence, my Giordano mention, earlier). And its probably easier to play the games now, with no pressure of any kind on the team, or the player. For all these reasons, this may be just a moment.

And yet. Now part of me wonders, after the last few games......is there something else there, despite the odds? Last night, against Tampa he may have been the best Hab, if not best player, on the ice.

I think MSL sees a lot of similarities to his career trials & tribulations in Scheneman - college, bounced around ECHL, AHL UFA, no one really willing to give him a chance, will play anywhere do anything in the lineup…

Thus far, of all the Habs D, I find Schueneman seems to excel at “reading the play”…

Good win, we should position ourselves as far away from the top pick as possible to help for the future. It's an obvious plan for success.
