Hard to believe how far he’s fallen - I know, some of you will say it’s not hard to believe but I think his injuries over the years have taken their toll.

No surprise whatsoever , that contract was fuked from day 1

Guys like him , Benn and Simmonds fell off the cliff in their late 20`s

Simply a legacy contract gone bad

You're missing point. The contract was always going to be bad but . . . he's totally fallen off the cliff form the start, not year 3 or 4.

Here is the issue with Gally

Body already breaking down and he wasnt a star to begin with , his decline was never going to be a gradual in year 3

So a noticeable dip for a 50-55 point player puts you as a way overpaid third liner

Those guys like Pitlick can be had as 1.5 mil UFA or in year pick ups

Bigger issue is the team is going nowhere and in transition for years , so that contract is useless on this roster

Poor asset management , nothing more .

Yeah, there's that. But I'm impressed with them. Its just overall team defence. I shudder at going to any kind of a "system" right now though. Brings back bad memories. I'm going to enjoy this free for all for the rest of the year, and hope we generally continue to play an offensive based style going forward . God knows we've stifled offence long enough.

That … short summer really shortchanged the Habs - the most injured team in NHL history as per last weeks tweet.

I agree - Gallagher’s game will need to be tweaked which I expect it will be, especially working w the new skills coach…
