GDT | Game 81 | vs Chicago - 98 vs 93 | Monday, April 14th | 7:00 PM EDT

So you're whole thing is effort. Because Newhook skates around missing opportunities, losing the puck, peeling off checks etc he's great because he skates fast that makes it look like effort.

This is seriously what I'm reading here. Anyone that takes Newhook over Dach should be nowhere near a NHL GM office.
You're missing the point. It's not so much about Newhook being great but rather Dach being bad. Yes effort matter, when you're on pace for 31 points over 82 games, you better bring something else to the table, other than lazy penalties and poor defensive effort. He would go games without even creating a scoring chance.

So Newhook is on pace for 26 points in 82 games but it's ok because he skates around doing nothing but looks good doing it?

I'm not impressed with the flash.

And Newhook doesn't create scoring chances. It's a myth. One that you're all grasping on to.

I take Evans over Newhook any day of the week and twice on Saturday.

And Dach forechecks much better than Newhook. You're only fixated on the bad with him yet amplify the little good with Newhook. I find it entirely disingenuous.

But you could keep Newhook, I want him off the team personally. We'll be back here next season again because he's not a top six guy. I question whether he's top nine even.

I'd love to focus on the good for Dach, I just didn't see much, except in short flashes. And he's a player that I want to like, so it's not like I have an agenda.

I've forgotten more about hockey than most posters on this board will ever know.

And I drive traffic.

And, as everyone knows, I'm also very modest and happy for you to point these obvious things about Newhook and Dach out to the less enlightened posters among us.

For the record and unless I see improvement, I will happily give up on Newhook becoming anything more than he is right now before I give up on Dach.
only about the Leafs

Yeah you kinda do actually.

If you had only those two choices going into next season for second line center, you would choose the one with a far lower ceiling.

You work with higher ceiling players to help them overcome the issues. Newhook does not have a high ceiling. You're in dreamland if you think he'd ever come close to even 50.

Choosing the much lower ceiling player because he skates better is a recipe for being the Sabres. The centers they've traded? Criminal.

Nobody is talking about next year tho….just evaluating their contributions per games played this year

You're talking about something different. I actually agree with you on this post. I'd pick Dach over Newhook for next season.

But I still maintain that Newhook has been marginally better than Dach this season.

Well at least I got you to "marginally".

Still disagree, I prefer butter.
