GDT | Game 84 | also at Washington | Wednesday, April 23rd | 7:00 PM EDT

If the Habs start the game on time, they win. Point finale.
I think they started much better but Washington was allowed to run around and do whatever they wanted. Didn't matter if the puck was near, they hit so many players and no interference called. It was pretty bush league.

Only to throw away Guhle because he tapped a guy on the shoulder during a scrum.

If they are purposely not calling the game properly because they're worried about what people will say then they aren't more than capable. They lack confidence in their own abilities and, quite frankly, it's mot my job as a fan to give it to them.

Personally, I don't single out specific refs aside from Tim Peel. To me they are largely nameless and faceless guys who are only as observant as their bosses want them to be at any given moment.

We bitch about what they do in real time and chant "REF YOU SUCK!" but the reality is that they are only doing what the people who run things (Bettman and Jacobs) want them to do. Our beef is with them, not the refs themselves.

Habs didn't know what hit them the first 10 mins or so. Guhle admitted as much after the game. Then the figured out the speed and intensity required. Getting that first power play really helped the Habs get into the swing of things. They had some good looks and were able to build on that.

i agree with MSL.....these lines have mostly been intact for months now....why suddenly change them

No line changes will get Demidov more energy and stamina
No line changes will get Laine to play better defensively
No line changes will teach Newhook to bury the puck when he's alone with goalie

And no line changes will get Slaf to play hungry.....he's like a Slovenian version of Kovalev....plays every 4 games if he feels like it

Plus Demidov (as a noob) and Laine can only play in the top 6. Habs bottom 6 are responsible for all our dzone starts.

i understand everyone's feelings towards Laine....but he's a 40-goal scorer (yes, he would have scored 40 if he played all season).

We are not making the playoffs without his contribution this season...we gotta find a way to make it work with him until we trade him next season at the deadline. And then, we will complain about missing his 40-goals.

(yes, i also wouldn't re-sign him, and i'll complain about it afterwards)

If we don't trade Laine this summer, I don't see us trading him at next year's deadline (unless we tragically fall out of the da mix) ...so what if he walks unsigned. Think of him as a season long rental

i don't mind if he walks unsigned....we got him for close to nothing, no ?

we actually received a 2nd rounder from Columbus...all we gave up was Jordan Harris (too small anyway)

Also, guys like Slaf can learn a trick or two from someone like Hutson on how to maximize your leverage

I absolutely love having CC and Lane on the squad. But we reached our quota.

and I'm not saying what I posted was original...but it's rarely captured so succinctly in a 12 second clip
100% agree. And players that size MUST be impact players, which fortunately both are.
