The guy has such minimal hockey sense.

I'm starting to see that he went in the 1st round based on good size, good foot speed, decent hands and that's about it.

Sounds like about 80% of the guys drafted in round 1.

Problem is other yank sports actually end games normally not with slam dunk contest, home run derby etc

The one/only good argument against OT in the NHL is that unlike the NFL, NBA and MLB, the standings (like European soccer) are based on points, not wins, so why should it matter if the game has a winner. But you never hear that argument made.
