GDT - Phi @ Tor

he's an effortless skater with elite conditioning. there's no reason he can't be a 25+mpg horse. babs is being silly.

Or...maybe Babs has been told no defenceman trade is on the horizon and that if Rielly burns out or gets injured we're ****ed.

Eventually Rielly's going to get out there for more PP time. But I think it's just not going to happen until Babcock has more defensemen that he feels he can really trust. And I guess I can't argue with that too much.

There's an argument to be made that Rielly is the one single player we can least afford to lose.

I read a tweet yesterday that Rammo has a stall in the leafs dressing room. Could they dump enroth and give Rammo the back up role?
The only way Ramo gets a contract is if Andersen or Enroth get injured, IMO. He hasn't really been any better than Enroth the last few years. So, I buy the story that Lou's doing it as a favour to his agent.

There's also benefits for Ramo & the Leafs. Ramo gets access to NHL trainers & facilities, and stays on the radar a bit as he works to get healthy and find a job. And until he signs somewhere, the Leafs have an emergency veteran backup ready to go to.

it isn't that he can't handle 25 mpg. it's the first shift after a pp, where the opposing team almost always uses their top line. he wants rielly to get that matchup.

it's yr 1 of having a real team. obviously, morgan rielly is going to be on the leafs top pp unit long term. but it isn't like they're struggling to score on the pp. the leafs have the 5th best pp in the league.

this is just you guys being butthurt cause you watn morgan rielly to score lots of points.

no it's wanting Rielly to be used the same way other #1 dmen are used, for the good of the team. Other dmen handle all the matchups. no reason rielly can't.

you just don't want to admit he's a #1 dman.

it isn't necessarily for hte good of the team, since the team's pp is one of the best in the league.

does that functionally matter? It just means they could score earlier in their pp. not more. i don't think that matters at all, tbh. it does suggest the 2nd unit is more dangerous than the first, though.
