No, I (a Newf by birth, 36 years there, and still have the accent) noticed that and mentioned it to my wife. Its almost not noticeable at all. A true St.John' accent is hard to miss, but he must have been raised in the west end or Mount Pearl, which is a lot more transient with more "mainland" or mix of accents. Mercer on the other hand has the accent.

Yes, many have it to varying degrees there too. Maybe Newhook didn't get out much.....We recognize our own of course, so I can tell he's a Newf by his accent. But its slight.
