Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

And he was captain for a decade, which almost never happens anymore. Pacioretty scored over 60 in 2 out of his 3 years wearing the C. But until Suzuki no one else was in their prime, was a big scorer to begin with, or didn't last 3 years.

Agreed. The question is who?

IMO Jets are gonna grab Nelson - they covet mid-west players, especially ones from Minny and those players like Winter-peg’s proximity to home

We have the assets to get Nelson. We also have assets to get a guy like ROR but neither will stay or agree to come. I also don’t want another Dach type Cozens experiment of failed prospects elsewhere.

So that leaves players like Laughton or Duchesne (summer).

Mason is an easier target cap wise ....not sure if he is more than a 55-60 point player

Wyatt will require a stupid offer in the 2 first round range for Dallas to even think of not matching

A second line center is in the 60 point range. Johnston would be a 1B.

I would offer him $8.5. So what if they match. Gotta use the rules available to you.
 
The reality is there’s not a lot of options for centers pacing for 50+ points (2C) on teams in fading from playoff contention. (Excluding cornerstone players and prospects… Sid, RThomas, Beniers, etc)

Zacha, Schenn, Laughton, Nelson, potentially Horvat - I expect acquisition cost to be too high for my taste

Zegras does intrigue me as another gamble approach - can he be had for a relatively cheap price? Is Ana willing to offload? I.e Mailloux for Zegras swap?

Separate issue. Zegras isn't a center.
