Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

I should have clarified. No HABS goalie is ever going to be paid Price-like money again. We learned our lesson.

Also, $11.5 million, while more than what Price was paid, does not necessarily represent a higher percentage of the Rangers' overall cap space as the Habs' when Price signed in 2017. The cap has and is continuing to rise. and every time it does, that contract becomes more digestible. Today an $11.5 million salary is less of a cap hit than Price's $10.5 million salary was in 2017.

When I wrote my original statement, it wasn't that I believed that no goalie would ever make as much as Price ever again. Of course they will. Salaries in pro sports only ever go up. But if you're asking will the Habs spend that much on a goalie in the next few years? Not a fucking chance. Fowler could be the second coming of Patrick Roy and he's never getting that kind of money. Not from this franchise, at least not a mere year or two removed from finally paying out the last of the Price deal.

My other point is also valid; that an $11.5 million contract in 2025 represents less team cap space than it would have 8 years ago. It's only more money in raw numbers but as a percentage of overall team cap space it likely isn't as onerous as the Price deal was for the Habs.

There is something special happening with Lane.. Rookie forwards have had higher pts per game than Celebrini , look how far back we have to go with this kind of results.. I think it is Lane hands down

Yes we need to sign Lane to long term...

But...but.....no one else is a bit (just a bit) worried that he doesn't have a shot from the point ?

He's only got 5 goals....by next season, most teams will have adapted and will know he will never shoot the puck, so it'll be easier for them to take away his passing lanes....

Ok...i'll shut up now....

I can guarantee you that he will be working on his shot the entire off-season. Quinn Hughes’ shot wasn’t great at first either.

If it were that easy, they would have done it this year
