Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

I think they deal Laine this summer, keep Armia

Anderson and Gally both have 2 years left, so one of them (Anderson) might be dealt at next year’s deadline since there’ll only be a year left at 5.5 in 2025-2026.

Primeau might also be dealt while his value is at its peak now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if HuGo trades Slaf for that 2C….Slaf doesn’t seem to be that power forward we were hoping for….he tries to be a finesse player, but he’s not. Sure he’s still 19-20….but he’s also making 8mil for next 7 years….i think by now MSL and management know what they have in their hands…MSL will know if he can help the kid improve, or if 18-20 goals is the norme for him

They committed a lot of coin to Slaf.
So now might be the time to bail while other GMs still see a shiny “1st OA 6’4 power forward” tag

Again, only to get that 2C in his mid-20’s….if not, we keep Slaf in hopes he develops into a 30 goal scorer (which is the absolute bare minimum or else he’s a bust, with that size, speed, and contract)

They may keep Armia on the cheap but I dunt see them dealing Laine before the deadline. Teams will likely want to take a short term risk on him.

If they can repeat their play if this season it's not terrible.

Likely. Or Dobes. The issue is that we need a 30-35 game backup if Monty is the starter.

He would have drafted Cooley if he didn't like the player Slaf could be. I just don't seeing him cutting bait on Slaf so soon.

He's still young.

My issue is the gaffes MSL himself makes.

Hopefully the addition of Demidov and the hypothetical 2C will focus his mind on what he brings to the table that no one else can. Coz we don’t need him to be the elite playmaker.
This is the problem we currently have that, hopefully, we won't have much longer, namely, a lack of depth.

On a good team Slaf and his production would be fine but we aren't a good team so we need more from him than he is able to deliver, at least on a consistent basis. But we won't be a bad team much longer and as we improve our depth and talent, Slaf's production will also increase. He's never going to be a generational talent but he's still going to be a great player.
