Speaking of Hughes, it’s been reported recently that he had interviewed with another NHL team for their GM position a few years ago. Rumor is that it was the Penguins.

I don't think it's a rumor. I read he thought long and hard about it but didn't want to move to Pittsburgh and/or wasn't ready to give up the Agent life. But the lure of coming back to Montreal was too strong.

He didn’t want to move his wife to Pitt and be away travelling half the year - Mtl provides convenience both their parents live there. Also Boston / Cape Cod houses and kids are a few hrs drive away
