Ivan Demidov - Montreal Canadien

Can we stop pretending like we wouldn’t be happy with Michkov on our team having 7 points in 7 games?
Who's doing that? Most of us would have drafted him. Aren't we getting a little old to be crying in our soup though? It was never going to happen, this is the same as crying that we didn't win the cup last year, or the year before, or the decade before, or the decade before that...

We would but it's not a valid point because MM never would have played for us. He wasn't interested. And if we had somehow forced him to, he'd have done the bare minimum and publicly demanded a trade. He would be a distraction. There is no point in drafting a player who tells you that he has no interest unless you're going to draft him and then do a Lindros deal. Otherwise just avoid it. MM is not Lindros. He was not the consensus 1OA. He fell in the rankings for 2 reasons: there were questions about his work ethic and it was known that there were teams for which he had zero interest in playing, including the Habs. Lindros didn't want to play for the Nords but he was far and away the best player so Quebec would have been stupid not to take him, even if only to trade him. MM is not that guy.

The Habs weren't interested is the truth of the matter. It was Hugo's decision to make. Second guess all you want

You know, posters diminishing the accomplishments of a 20 years old rookie as to justify our decision to not draft him.

Who's diminishing? He's a one-dimensional offensive forward. A good one at that. He'll likely never be a well-rounded player though but he wasn't drafted for that.
Habs have never had an offensive star in my lifetime. And only 2 cups to show for it. Maybe an offensive star is important.

You still crying about Kreider?
Leblanc was a stupid home pick but crying? We definitely have different definitions.

I will say this, had they drafted him we likely win the cup. He wouldn't have taken out price.
