It was a factor, just not THE factor. That's pretty obvious.they lied at least once then

It's a pretty low bar. Bergevin had a steady job here for close to a decade. David Poile spent his entire adult life in NHL front offices while accomplishing next to nothing. It's not a meritocracy, it's an old boys club. If you're in it, you stay in. Being good at your job doesn't matter one iota.Kent Hughes is smarter than most other NHL GM’s. Doesn’t mean he’ll succeed here but still.
If the Habs were picking 4th and Wright had landed in our laps we'd all be praising him for acting pissed off about not going 1OA. I don't see why people are pretending to be put off by the kid's honest reaction. As John Lydon famously said "Anger is an energy" and hockey is at its best when it is played with a certain amount of malice aforethought.I wanted Wright but got over it as soon as I saw his resting bitch face after Slaf got picked...I am fully on board the Slaf bandwagon now!
I don’t think Hughes cares. If the Habs were picking 4th and Wright had landed in our laps we'd all be praising him for acting pissed off about not going 1OA. I don't know if Hughes thought it out ahead of time, but he could have just made an educated guess that if he took Slaf, New Jersey would pass on Wright and he'd wind up in Arizona or Seattle, where he could only come back to haunt us twice per season.

True dat, but he’s dead to me the second we passed on him - Bitch face or not. Now if we trade for him at some point, he’s back in the good books. If the Habs were picking 4th and Wright had landed in our laps we'd all be praising him for acting pissed off about not going 1OA. Yep. I wanted the Habs to pick him but once he went elsewhere? Dead to me. Romanov? Dead to me. Weber? Dead to me.True dat, but he’s dead to me the second we passed on him - Bitch face or not. Now if we trade for him at some point, he’s back in the good books.
Looks like anger caused by either entitlement and/or rejection to me. Either way, both can be very toxic and I suspect the habs dodged a bullet. If the Habs were picking 4th and Wright had landed in our laps we'd all be praising him for acting pissed off about not going 1OA. I mean how long has this kid heard he's the best?Looks like anger caused by either entitlement and/or rejection to me. Either way, both can be very toxic and I suspect the habs dodged a bullet.
Hopefully they didn't need to dodge the second bullet.
I guarantee that he's very disappointed, but in the long run, this is probably best for him. This is the best situation for Wright , I would be ecstatic
New franchise and no pressure to win anytime soon
He doesnt have to be rushed in the league as well
I think he genuinely wanted to be a Hab.I guarantee that he's very disappointed, but in the long run, this is probably best for him.
