Laval Rocket Thread

i would say the Habs have historically took almost all their 1st round risks with unskilled big guys -- see 1980s/1990s/ and McCarron
Agreed but the majority of skilled small finesse forward types have a floor of never playing in the league and are mainly bust

Top 6 or nothing and nothing rules

there are 10x more finesse small guys than a Cuylle or Knies
I'll answer your pre goal post moving theory in more detail.

The risk that GMs take on small players is later in the draft. The real risk is when you take a guy early because of size.

It's why caufield was available at 15 for us instead of a top 5 pick. Hutson in the third, etc.

These big dudes like Cuylle are not going in the lottery

CC was a top goal scorer heading in his draft year legit NHL top 6

There are way more Mesar flops , rather take that Knies guy 7 days a week

Knies was a 2021 drafted guy. Covid effected the draft. A redraft would be hilarious now.

That said look at the risk the sens took at 10th overall...

Rocket agree to terms on a one-year, one-way AHL contract with forward Xavier Simoneau and defenseman Josh Jacobs and on a one-year, two-way AHL contract with defenseman Darick Louis-Jean and goaltender Hunter Jones.
