Leaf Rumours

I'd like to see us make a move for Iginla on a 2 year deal. Depending on the cost, but he would bring some more veteran leadership to the team.

Buy out Grabo and Liles.

Sign Weiss Clarkson and Iginla

JVR - Weiss - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Iginla
Kulemin - Bolland - Clarkson
McLaren - McClement - Orr

Phaneuf - Gunnar
Gardiner - Franson
Fraser - XXXX/Rook

Bernier
Reimer

We should bring back Stalberg. Big, fast winger with some offense for the 3rd line. Likely cheap. Also a solid Corsi guy.

I never understood why Burke got rid of a big/skilled guy in Stalberg for a small little ballerina in Versteeg, it still to this day blows my mind. Stalberg would fit amazingly well here in Carlyle's dump/chase/forecheck system, plus he's a UFA and we could sign him to something like a 2/5.5M deal plus bonuses.

Iginla looks like he is pretty done after carrying Calgary on his back for god knows how many years, not saying he is Tim Connaly all over again, but he seems sorta done. Love him but start pressing a fork into his back perhaps??

No question Lecavellier, Horton and Clarkson are going to get PAID. And paid big time, in massive overpayments. And how rich is Lecavellier going to be? That sort of scares me, how eager is he going to be, to go into high traffic areas, the guy is a freaking bank now, a bank that pays big dividends.

I know Grabovski is not that popular around here, but I still love his level of compete, his ability to drive opposing large defencemen nuts. I hope he finds his game during a regular season again. I think it is still there, definitely saw something in the playoffs.

It is quite conceivable we don't get any of the big three, all 30 teams should be in on them. Or 29 in Lecavellier's case.

Agreed.
Enjoying your posts quite a bit lately teeds. Keep it up.

Grabovski does give it his all. His level of compete was great in the playoffs. I think the issue is, giving it your all and taking great punishment and still getting up everytime gets overrated in Canada. He was a massive black hole offensively.

That's why we're supposed to hate Phil Kessel I guess. He's not phyical, but who gives a ****. Two straight PPG seasons with Bozak as his centre.

It's the Don Cherry mantalilty that has seeped into our bloodstreams. (and I like Don).

- I know for a fact besides the Leafs, Anahiem/Montreal/Detroit have all met with Vinny and IMO its only a small chance he comes here. Clarkson I'd love to have and he'd bring size but really lets be honest he's nothing more then a 40 pt guy who will be commanding $4.5-5M a season I'm not so sure I want to tie that much cap space up in him.

Grabo's an energetic guy, but really he's IMO not that gritty, pretty much every NHL player (not named Ribero) gets hit and gets back up, hell Kessel gets rocked and he gets back up does that mean he's gritty too? Grabo reminds me so much of Jason Blake in that their both elite speedsters, both hustle, both (in Blakes case used to) put up 50-55 pts a year but also lack vision.
