Leaf Rumours

It was floating around twitter. Probably nothing to it, but it would be similar to the Franson deal.

Calgary gets a prospect for taking on the Liles deal. Leafs would remove about 4M from the cap.
 
Colborne + Liles for 2nd Round pick is something that i could see happening.

I would NOT be a fan of this trade.

Better off having them both having impact on the Leafs.

With McLaren out, we might see Colborne actually stick with the club.
 
If that was the only deal out there for Liles, I would probably do it. Which would be kind of ironic, considering the fact that Cody came to the Leafs in a similar deal, and it would take that kind of a deal to keep him here.
 
That would suck.

Considering the improvement that we've seen from Cody Franson since joining our team, i don want to see us trade off Colborne only to see him find his groove in the NHL.

This is a guy that has legitimate skill and size. I could definitely see him taking over the 3rd line eventually.
 
What's more important to you? A third line centre or a solid 3-4 defenseman? Because joes ceiling seems to be third line centre. But franson looks to be 3-4 and top pp guy

We just traded for a 2 time cup winning, 3rd line centre (****, he was the 2nd line centre for a lot of his time in Chicago), for a what, a 2nd and a 4th? We have a young group that is on it's way to contending soon, let's just worry about icing our best lineup. As for Colbourne, unless if he looked head and shoulders better than Gauthier, I wouldn't be overly concerned.
 
Im not hung up over Joe Colborne, lets not get things twisted here.

All i see is a possible robbery of a trade. Liles should be the one to be going, no one else. He is part of our cap problem when it comes to keeping Cody Franson.

Agreed on the Bolland part. He is a fantastic center, and would not be in the least surprised to see him lead our center group in points this season. 60 points could do it with this group.
 
No. I would rather not lose him for nothing though. Realistically speaking for the caphit Colborne will hold this year, you'll be hard pressed to find better value even if he doesn't produce much offensively.

They should have Franson sign by now, i dont care about this "internal number" being thrown around. We have enough cap space to ice the best possible players.

Only it's not a "robbery" or a trade when you look at the financial aspect of it. We would be trading ~ 4.5 million dollars of cap hit for none. There is value in that, especially when you're talking about removing a non core member of our team, making one of the higher salaries.

I wouldn't go that far. I like Bolland, but he failed to assert himself as a legitimate 2nd line centre offensively, despite the opportunity to play with some pretty good wingers in Chicago. I don't see him doing anything more than we saw with Chicago, especially considering the fact that he's really likely to be part of a Raymond-Bolland-Kulemin 3rd line. All 3 should come in with 35-45 points imo, which is borderline 2nd line production and outstanding from a 3rd line. All while being outstanding on the defensive side of the puck (with McClement as a very nice fill in on that line for injury purposes). Those are my expectations for Bolland and why I'm glad that he's here instead of Grabovski.

Even when he was putting up decent offensive totals I felt like his tendency to overhandle the puck hurt the players he was lined up with. That one magic season the Kule-Grabo-Mac line had was driven by Mac being consistently excellent at distributing the puck, something that it became evident in later seasons, he wasn't capable to maintaining long term. When that trended downward, so did the effectiveness of that line, despite Grabovski still "getting his", until last season.
