Leaf Rumours

No way Nonis trades his prize FA addition right after signing him to a cushy deal. But, I'd definitely be in favour of it.
 
Man. I get not liking the contract but it's only been a very small sample size to judge him wih missing the fist ten games of the season. Be mad at mgmt for the contract. Can he be useful to the team? Does
He bring some intangibles? If not yet, can he? I think so and I think its far too early to be wanting I'm gone. That's just me though.

The #1 reason I want him gone though is because of the contract. Just poor asset management in a cap world.
 
Wouldn't mind Nonis taking a look into acquiring Matt Cullen.....shouldn't cost much, has decent offensive ability, and is great in the faceoff dot.


Would seemingly be a perfect stop gap until Bolland comes back.
 
20 games in they're last in their division, and would have to beat out three of Dallas, Vancouver, Minnesota or LA for a playoff spot.




....just realized though that Cullen is under contract for next season as well, so I'm less interested than I was before. Might be better to wait until the deadline and then try to acquire Legwand, as a rental.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm not judging him on his play this year. I'm judging him on the fact that he's been a 20-30 point player his entire career, except for a couple of seasons where he got oodles of power-play time that he flat out doesn't deserve here with better players in line ahead of him.

I hope regardless of the hideous contract we're saddled with, he can be a useful player, but I'd do hand-stands if we ever managed to get rid of him.
 
There's really only 3 or 4 teams out of the playoff picture by a sizeable amount right now, so I think more deals are likely to happen a month or two from now when there's greater seperation.
 
Rumours that Carolina might be interested in Liles. Ron Francis is at the Marlies game this afternoon. Liles with a goal and an assist so far.
 
Maybe that's why they dissed him even further by giving his number to Holland.

Might be because he's out the door, which would be pretty shocking.

Liles could help a lot of teams in this league.

hell, he should be ahead of Fraser on out depth chart right now. maybe ranger, too.
 
Franson 2 years ago couldn't crack our top 6 some nights. Coaches make bad decisions. Liles no doubt can go elsewhere and flourish.
 
Liles is still a good, puck-moving NHL calibre defenseman that I have no doubt will score at least at a 35-40 point pace whenever he gets back up to the NHL level. It's just no one wants to take the chance that he's not the same player he was before the concussion with that long-term contract that he's signed to. They're either going to have to eat some salary, or give him a run of games at the NHL level to prove himself before they'll find someone willing to take a chance on him.

His ES numbers went right back to pre-concussion levels last year.

He just wasn't getting consistent PP time anymore when he got back.

I'm not even talking points. Just the quality of his defensive play was lacking. At least from the handful of games I saw and the general consensus on this board.
