Leaf Rumours

Bolland's going to break-down. I say stay away.

Funny you should mention that... the Leafs have a porcelain doll in Lupul and I don't see many people saying "he's going to break down, stay away". There is always that risk he could break down given his gritty style but he is what this team needs a guy who plays a solid 200 foot game, not just a 50 footer, he's a positive factor at both ends of the ice.... again we badly need more guys like him.

Wait a second.. Dr. ME was wrong about Bolland? Shocker!

It's not the injury itself, it's the scar tissue that is the issue apparently. But you've never really cared much for accuracy (or having much of an opinion of your own, you'd rather just chirp others), so I can't say that this is unexpected.

AND i dont think he's worth much in a trade. We got him for what? Two 2nd rounders?

Now he's missed half the year and is UFA. Probably get a 2nd.

Might as well keep him and see what happens.

Bolland is exactly what this team is lacking. A good 2nd line C and great 3rd line C, a vet with 2 stanley cups, depth down the middle. The salary cap is going way way up - it will be closer to 80 than 70 next year. I'd give him 5 mil/year.

Bolland > Holland.

Let him play out his contract. If he wants term and money than let him walk, if not then sign him. What did Stajan get for his contract?
I think you have to believe that the contracts to Orr (Broll) and McLaren (Devane), Raymond (Ashton) and Bolland (Holland) will be done and they are all replaceable from within or league minimum contracts.
I would be careful about looking over the fence as far as the salary cap. If the Canadian dollar starts to plummet than the salary cap wont be moving north to soon in the future.

A guy I would like to see the leafs go after would be Erik Gudbranson. Young defensive defenceman that I think could really develop into that big mean stay at home dman that can pitch in the odd goal.
Wonder what it wold cost for him .....

Plus he's a "hometown boy" well close enough anyways, players from Kingston always seem to play well for the Leafs (Gilmour, Muller, Mcclement) and you could make a case for Macauley although he's from Gan.

Florida badly needs some scoring, maybe something like Holland, D'mago and a 1st as a starting point?

Yes...lets overpay, badly I might add, for Erik Gudbranson.....

Holland is still a young guy with offensive upside, D'mago has potential to be a greasy 3rd liner, and fair enough maybe the 1st is an overpayment.... how about a 3rd rounder? (since we don't have any 2nd's)

Personally I never liked Gudbranson. Would hate to overpay for a guy just because he was a high pick due to size/leadership abilities.

As far as Bolland goes, it's impossible to put a price tag on him when he's only played 1 month for us ... since he's most likely worth very little on the trade market, the right thing to do is probably just let him play out the season an decide in the summer. He's a hometown boy, he was excited to come to the Leafs, if we want him we can always re-sign him at or slightly below market value. There's no need to rush and lock him up now when we don't even know what he is.

Also, he knows how badly things ****ed up here (no fault of his own) this season, I would think he wants a do-over to show to this team how effective he can be, I truly believe he'll resign here for a 2 year deal in the offseason.

Just a chirping jackass, as usual. All I said was 1) the injury was not an achilles injury 2) the reporting on it by the media was lazy 3) he was close to a return

3 for 3

For whatever reason, dude has a pile of scar tissue that will force him to wear some sort of special skate for the rest of his life and leave him with some lingering pain. It was never reported until this week and we had no reason to expect it (as it's not the norm for a slice injury).
