Lecavalier is intriguing, but if it was a choice between picking up either Phaneuf or Lecavalier, I'm glad we went with Phaneuf. Phaneuf is six years younger, four million dollars cheaper and overall just fits in better with the rebuild going forward. And that Lecavalier contract is just a killer, especially if he continues performing at the sub-PPG pace he's been scoring at the past couple of years.
As for this never-ending Kaberle/Staal talk, I've said it before, and I'll say it again: KEEP KABERLE. I don't think people appreciate how rare a puck-moving defenseman of his callibre is, and how much our offense will be hurt without him back there. Jordan Staal's a nice player and all, but his impact on the team's offense will not approach Kaberle's (hell, Kaberle's even out-scoring him this season, and has out-scored him every year that he's been in the league except for last year's injury-plagued season). It would also be disappointing to trade Kaberle when a Kaberle/Phaneuf duo on the power-play looks so good on paper.
