Leaf Rumours

Yeah, and his timeline doesn't really work with ours.

He's heading towards the downslope of his career now and is signed for years.

We need another early 20s guy to play with the core and grow together. Not Vinny, who would provide a few years of good offence and then be done just as we're hitting our stride.

And going back to all the rumours about centres - vinny/staal/ribeiro what have you - the more I see Bozak, and the hotter kadri gets, I'm kind of eager to see what these kids can do as our top-2 centers going forward for the time better - and I certainly don't see either of them being well used as a 3rd line centre.

and I still see grabo as trade bait.

I like Gonchar but making 5 million (providing its not prorated) at 41 is not good business.

2 years at 5 per I could live with

Vinny at ridiculous millions... Ribeiro at dive millions or Staal at 4 millions.

hmmm.

talent wise... Vinny, Staal, Ribeiro
Character: Staal/Vinny, Ribeiro
Money: Staal Ribeiro Vinny
Term: Ribeiro, Staal Vinny
Age: Staal Ribeiro Vinny

And the winner is.......... Staal

I don't want Ribiero for free.

And there's a reason Dallas supposedly wants to pay someone to take him.

Burke would really piss over this fantastic outcome by saddling us with Ribiero just as he gets Blake out the door.

talent: vinny..............................ribeiro.....staal

come on, you can't break it down so simply.

and again, staal only comes available under a unique set of circumstances. otherwise it doesn't make much sense for pittsburgh to trade him.

and even still, he's the biggest risk out of the three. he hasn't shown much improvement at all, at least as far as his production is concerned. he is a good young player but his ceiling might be limited.

if you can get lecavalier i think you have to consider it. he isn't even 30 years old yet. he should continue to be a top player for at least another 6 or 7 years.

I think Staal is the best of the bunch by a mile.

At the tender age of 21, the guy has proven he's good for at least 20 goals in a third line capacity with Pittsburgh. He already has 76 goals in only 3+ seasons. He's super young, has TONS of room to improve, and has never been given the reigns to a team, instead being firmly set in the shadows of Crosby and Malkin. He's already a surefire 50 point center who is defensively responsible and has a Cup win under his belt already. He's also not signed to some ridiculous contract.

He's a horse who should be able to put up 30/70 with ease soon.

It's such a no-contest in my mind, that given where the team is at, that he's the guy they should be going for and shouldn't be considering Vinny or the likes of that shit Ribiero for an instant.

If Staal becomes available, great.

But I really wouldn't get my hopes up on that.

He shouldn't really even be discussed as an option.

You can never have enough good centres, so if a good one becomes available, and he fits in with the young core Burke is building, you make the move.

But I don't think Burke will be in a rush to overpay for a marginal upgrade at centre until he knows what he has with Kadri and Bozak.

If Kadri displays top end potential and Bozak shows he can be a 2nd line centre, this will allow the Leafs to be more flexible in terms of the 1st line forward they target because it opens the possibility of adding another elite winger (and there are more elite wingers than elite centres available).

Hey guys... ummm... just took a look and Sergei Berezin is weeping like a child. Wow.

Must be a bunch of broken left click buttons.

yeah I have heard the Stemp to buff a few times now...

hell they paid a second for Moore. so they could do that for us again easily.

I don't think it will happen, but Buffalo does these stupid moves to look like they are doing something, but in reality it's garbage..

They have a hot goalie, and a well balanced forward group... they could do some damage, but their ownership will bring in someone like Stemp to save the day... egad

Dreger on Mueller.

I checked with a Coyotes source to determine the rate of return. Phoenix expects a good young roster player or prospect in exchange for Mueller, who is considered to have some issues, but a lot of potential as well.

Grabovski for Mueller?
