Schenn's a natural C, but he's played W this year.

He played C last year, so you could play him at either position.

He's been worse than Kadri on faceoffs over the last two years though.
 
Schenn is being seriously underrated by a few here. He's still only 22, put up better AHL numbers than Kadri, and is way more physical than some of you are giving him credit for.

Would love to have him. Not sure about Gardiner though, you just can't find guys who can skate like that. Having him and Rielly for the next 10 years is huge.

Yeah, I'd consider that. More and more I'm coming around to the idea of trading Franson before the next contract battle this summer, and if we do deal him, ideally I'd like to pick up a quality young forward that could step right into our lineup, like we did with the L.Schenn/JVR trade.

The idea that media's consistently floating out there that having Rielly makes Gardiner expendable is just stupid though. Keep them both and along with a first pairing of Phaneuf/Gunn hopefully locked up for years, you have a lethal puck-moving defense for a long time.

Side note -- it'd also be hilariously cruel for us to reunite the Schenn brothers by trading away Luke, and then break them up again a couple of years later by trading for Luke's little brother.
 
The reason why B Schenn was looked at hard at the draft was because we had Luke.... Burke wanted to get the two together like the Sedins, and like the Niedermeyer's.

Now that Luke is gone, and Burke is gone, I am sure Nonis isn't that interested.
 
Over and over again? He played ~100 games there (probably less) at 20 and 21 years old. Writing him off as a center long term because of struggles as a 20/21 year old is silly.
 
Yes, over and over again, and he's been awful every time. Similar to what happened with JVR at centre the past couple of weeks.

well, to give him credit, Schenn is extremely physical, though he's not all that big.
 
Unlike his bigger brother, B. Schenn wasn't drafted so high for the lame reason of being mature for his age or intangibles like leadership.

B. Schenn was off the chart with his physical, he has a good shot, he's a good skater. True he doesn't have the size of a power forward, but he is built like a tank and allows him to play physical for his smallish size (still 6'1).

Schenn definitely has skills. Whether he can turn his raw skills into NHL skillset is a different question, but to write off a 22 yrs old kid, who btw has already reached ~ 45-50ish points level in the NHL is kinda silly.
 
Yeah I think I'd welcome that too ... problem is, if you lose Franson, then ALL our defensemen, including the depth guy who are #7 and #8 on the depth chart, are ALL lefties ...
