Leaf Rumours

Yes it is. The Leafs aren't going to want a midget who can't win faceoffs and is not an improvement over what they have now. Pretty simple, really.

It's more likely than the Oilers dealing their franchise home grown C for anything in Toronto.

Neither deal makes sense, but the Gagner one makes slightly more sense.

Why is Kadri an issue at all?

So he's not tearing it up this year. Neither is Lupul. Should we package both for some crap?

The Steen thing is killing me. That should be the lesson that governs what we do with Kadri, which should be absolutely nothing.

It's not nearly as stupid as anyone suggesting the Oilers move RNH for a Kadri based deal.
When coming up with trade suggestions, I would suggest you eadeavour to set the bar higher than "my idea's not as dumb as Pronger's".

Gagner is older, smaller, softer, worse defensively, worse offensively and significantly more expensive than Nazem Kadri. It's a brutal trade suggestion.

Thats what I said about Gagner as well, it would be a downgrade at the 2C role, to be fair though Gagner is only a year older then Naz. It doesn't make sense for the Oilers to do a centre for centre swap, they badly need defense and they're likely going to demand a blueliner for Gagner thats not to say though they'll get their wish though either.

All the Kadri rumors are stupid imo.

The repeating message from Leafs brass is we will be patient with the young players, and we'll rely on our young players. Kadri was a 70+ points player last season with limited icetime in what was really his rookie year. This year, in his sophomore season, he's struggled a bit, but still playing on 50 points pace. If an organization cannot hold on to a promising young player through his sophomore slump, then they can never develop their own players.

As I have said I haven't always been Kadri's biggest fan but to trade him is asinine! The Leafs have a piss poor history of drafting their players as well as developing them, think about it in the past 5 years can anyone name the ONLY top 6 player that the Leafs have drafted and who has made it on the team? Ding ding ding it's Kadri and flashforward 5 years later the Leafs are ready to write him off because he's had a blip in the radar in what is techinally his 2nd season in the NHL, it's pathetic. The Leafs are not good at attracting free agents, and there is hardly ever any big names available via trades, the Leafs need to learn not just how to draft good players but to develop them properly and show patience.
