Im not seeing much in his track record to suggest he was going to be what he was this past season
I wanted to ride the wave this deadline and grab him but pushing 30, Im not investing long term in him until he can prove last year was not just a blip

I’m still salty that we didn’t pick up (and sign) Lehner for dirt cheap when that was still a possibility, and when I was screaming for Dubas to do it.

Glasses has always been shit at trades. I think he's a garbage negotiator. No Toews for 2 2nds type of fleecings. That one wasn't hindsight either. Was an obvious robbery from day 1.
His Muzzin trade was good. So was his Campbell trade. Other than that he hasn't gotten great value in any trade really that I recall.

also seemed like way more of a risk than was necessary given the market/Ottawa's financial realities. that's the part that kills me.

he doesn't fleece anybody, that's for sure. yeah the Muzzin trade was good for us, but LA is quite happy with their end I'm sure.

Ya the track record on trades is pretty clear now, and it's shit.
He also hasn't exactly been pulling hidden gems out of the draft like we hoped. That combined with constantly trading picks for garbage rentals, or trading picks to fix previous garbage trades, and things are starting to look pretty bleak.
He's really living on the continued development of Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly, none of which he was responsible for, and JT wanting to wear his Leaf jammies. And that signing is looking debatable as he hasn't done a good enough job filling out the rest of the roster with cheap talent.
