A little OT, but since you're an afficionado, I thought I'd see what you think. I saw this somewhere online like 5 years ago, and just check on it every so often. I still think it's maybe one of the most elegant awesome watches I've ever seen, and at that time super expensive. Now, it looks like the price has doubled from there, though not sure anyone is actually paying it. I'm not planning to either, but thought I'd share and see what you think (dimly lit video doesn't really do it justice).Release the Dougler

IWC Portugeiser Automatic 5007-02 Luxury Watch Review - YouTube
I'm not even a proponent of spending big bucks on watches. That IWC in particular, I don't know why, has just captivated me over the years - has nothing to do with the price tag, which is the only unfortunate thing about it. It could be had for $15k USD (maybe even $13,500), so I figure your estimate is in CDN. I love Tags, they seem to have a lot of cool models for everyday and dressy options. There's one Speedmaster I've found intriguing, but for the most part don't think Omegas are that amazing.Portugeiser is a minor icon, gorgeous piece. The chronograph puts it over 20 grand though, for that. I'd prefer a Lange at the price range if its a dress piece but the smart play is to do a 3 watch collection for the same money. For about the same money in total you can get into a Tudor black bay and a seamaster or speedy as durable daily drivers, and then a Monaco as your dress piece. The only people who would know the difference between watches of those price points are watch nerds. Anyone looking to spend 20-25k to flex on watch nerds would be better off with a Lange, or Moser....or save up the extra 8-10 that gets you into an Offshore at their bottom end.

Nope, $13,500 USD brand new with tags. I've noticed myself quietly contemplating whether it would be a good buy even just as an investment...I'm assuming that's 13.5-15 used. That reference goes for 25k cad.
I used to have it bad for pricey pricey watches but thankfully grew out of that. Monaco and Seamaster ceramic are my personal grails at the moment. Can't buy a Monaco though, Timmy beat me to the punch, but I will eventually break down and buy a blue seamaster ceramic with the gold accents. Obscenely gorgeous watch.
Only tag I think is worth owning other than the Monaco is the Carrera. Tag sits in a weird place where I just don't see the value proposition (aside from the Monaco which is just fucking iconic) in their lineup. There's a bunch of lower end Swiss watch makers that the fit and finish is similar to Tag, for half the price or less. Oris, Mido, Raymond Weil, Frédéric Constant, shit even Tissot makes some great automatic dress watches in the 500-600 range with solid in houseish movements and decent enough finishing (display backs, waffle dials, etc). Any of these prestigious watch houses that are basically using off the shelf movements in non precious metal cases in the 3-5k range, I kind of just don't get.
