Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

So weird that they wouldnt play him until they had no other choice.

No surprise that he's playing well.

Btw the starter who they refused to give akhtyamov any chance to play over has a .905sv%. The other backup is at .875%.

KHL politics is nuts. Beyond nuts. Getting prospects out of Russia asap was incredibly important, even before the war.

Generally seems to be standard operating procedure in the KHL to bury young players. Particularly if they’re NHL draft picks and have NHL aspirations.

Just a crabs-in-a-bucket sort of league and country.

note that the team listed Chadwick on the top pair in it's pregame lineup tweet and he has a goal and 2pts in his first 2gms.

LHD N.Chadwick - 18yrs, 6'4" 200lbs, 6th round pick 2023

Umm, early LOF eye test analytics result in concluding that this guy is fucking amazing.

Not even a little. He's seemingly really quick and nimble in tight, and has long strides (and a long reach) that let him catch up to that guy who was trying to break in alone.

he got beat by that guy even though he had a long head start. used a nice stick to recover tho.

He didn't get beat. He lost positioning for a second trying to poke the puck away, but then was still speedy enough to keep up with him and deftly get that stick in there to break it up.

And then look how he quickly recovers the puck and repositions himself for the breakout pass.

His skating is impressive.

he literally got beat tho. had to flail the stick from behind the forward to save it.

Bit of a strained interpretation of events.

He didn’t look like he was trying to go full speed to get ahead of him, because he pretty obviously could have. He was trying to get near him to make a play to steal the puck. When that failed, he didn’t flail, but kept up with him and perfectly timed and aimed the stick to knock it away.
