Almost scored the OT winner on opening night. Had a few nice chances yesterday. But playing him with another rookie on the third line doesn’t exactly maximize his output.

Case in point, Kallgren started 9 games for the Leafs last year, and the Leafs were a 91 point team with him in net.

Out of curiousity....what has Knies done that is "studly" yet?

Even counting playoffs last year, he's at 1G 4A in 12 career NHL games. Some of the Knies dunkers might want to chill a bit before doing their victory laps.

Agreed. He's a lovely prospect (see my new ranking in my prospect rankings) and will probably be a functioning middle 6 winger for us this year, but what's the reasonable goal expectations for him this year? 15? 12?

I’d take that too. I want Knies with one of Matty or Tavares. And Willy could put the beast into that third line if he keeps up his globetrotting.

A player should be productive in their role before getting moved up to play with better players. Being dragged around the ice and putting up a few points along the way is how people fall in love with Kerfoot's and Jarnkrok's.

Willy is a 5v5 stud. Anyone with him is going to look productive on paper.

You liked Tavares and Knies when they eliminated TB. How quickly we forget.

So any backup should be able to run at a 100 point clip or more with us to be good enough.

I’ll take 90 point pace from a guy supposed to play 20 games.

lol i totally forgot about his Kallgren obsession. wasn't even referencing that when i posted his name. just referencing the fact that everybody knows he's an absolutely terrible goalie even in the AHL, and that it legitimately made Robby;'s goal less impressive. thankfully he scored an even better one on a different goalie tonight tho.

Again, the argument was pretty much any asshole can get by as our backup. And I still say that.

It was always in the context of whether to spend real money on a backup. That’s a no no.
