Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

their age 21 numbers beg to differ

Eh, not really.

Willy: 2.38 P/60 on 10.9% shooting, 11.7% oiSH%, in a league that averaged 5.86gpg
Slaf: 2.06 P/60 on 16.5% shooting, 15 point motherfucking 1% oiSH% in a league that averaged 6.16gpg

It's already not that close before normalizing the shooting/on ice shooting luck difference or the era adjustment.

meh...it's closer than you think

Caufield aside, Habs are a low volume shot team. HabFan spends half the game yelling at the tv for guys like Slaf and Demidov to shoot more.

Feels a bit aggressive to continue to expect 13+% moving forward, but I do like the player. And hey, even if he's a 65-75 point guy in his prime, that's a lovely national hockey league player.

Habs are a low volume shot team.

This is not good though, and is part of the core reason that I've suggested pumping the brakes on expectations for this group until they rectify that. Because it's not just an issue of them not shooting. It's an issue of them not having the puck enough.

sure, but I am bullish they will improve given the age of their most talented players, their cap situation, and their accumulated potential trade assets…. They’re frankly ahead of schedule so even a sideways or step back will not change my outlook

you're right, they should play him on the 4th line to figure out if he's any good

Of course not, but there is a difference between a guy who can carry his own top line and a guy who makes a living with 2 more productive players than he is.
