Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

Holowell looks perfectly comfortable at this level.

Carcone looks better than I thought he would too.

28 mins tonight for Sandin.

Was reading the Sandin Timmy pairing was a beast tonight too.

They actually weren't a pair much. Especially after Rosen went down they had to spread them out. But Lily looked good too. It's just that Sandin is amazing.

I only caught the highlights and based on comments I read it made it seem like they played together. Regardless good to see him step up. Too many twitter scouts down on him since the Friedman

Dubas knocked this one out of the park I think. And for all the crying of passing on Veleno at the time for a relative unknown he seems to be smarter than everyone else in the room again

Although there are not a ton of comps for 18 year old dmen playing in the AHL, a few years ago Werenski finished his 18 year old season in the AHL, leading Cleveland on a long post season run with 14 points in 17 games and playing top minutes.

The next year he was a top pair dman in the NHL on a 110 point team.

I only ended up catching the third period of this game, and Timmy Liljegren really stood out to me.

I didn't notice him really generating any offensive chances, but he was strong in battles along the boards, skated or passed the puck out of danger a bunch of times, skated the puck up ice pretty effectively and when the Leafs had shifts where they'd be cycling in the other team's zone, I noticed him make good plays to keep the cycle going a bunch of times.

Even if there doesn't end up being a ton of offense there (and there still might be---the kid only turned 20 a couple of days ago), his skillset looks just like what the doctor ordered for the Leafs. If he and Sandin can step within the next year or two and make an impact, that's going to be a godsend for this team.

I thought he looked great too. He was everywhere. Perfect candidate to be a possession monster in the show. He's aggressive, makes a beautiful first pass, and seems to always have the puck when he's out there.

He hasn't shown any of his offense and I don't expect that to start (he does lack offensive vision and imagination, with not a great shot either), but he reminded me a lot of an Ekholm or on the lower end of the spectrum, Grzecyk (in non midget form).

A definite NHLer. And honestly if he doesn't put up the point totals he's a candidate to be a very good value guy on cheap contracts throughout his career.

thing is his offensive totals for his age are still pretty great, especially since he's never had top pp billing.

Who does Bracco replace in the lineup next season? I'm not sure if he'll ever be a "1st liner" but I wonder how he'd look next to Matthews. Playing as an offbrand Marner.

Honestly, I think he might work well with any of our top-3 centers. They're all 30+ goal shooters (and even Nylander can snipe, if we end up dumping Kadri and going with Willy as our #3C), so in theory, you'd think that a passing whiz would be a solid fit on any of their wings.

The tricky part is if Kadri, Nylander, Kapanen & Marner are all back next year...then it becomes hard to open up a right wing spot for him on the top-3 lines, unless you move someone to their off-wing.
