Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

I’m as cautious about calling up players too early as anyone, particularly teenaged defenseman. But when a player is dominating as a #1 defenseman at the AHL level over an extended period, their age doesn’t matter.

He should already be getting pencilled into next year’s lineup. Bracco too.

Yep. Both should be penciled into next year's lineups. Bracco was a 1.1-1.2ppg forward for the last 50 games of the season, and Sandin a PPG defender for the last 2 months. That's just dominant.

and Sandin doesn't have the benefit of Rielly's uber elite skating. His offense comes purely from brain and hands.

Yep. Maybe they're just sending these guys down one at a time as they complete their exit interviews.

And yeah, will be an interesting choice. Would have to think they'll keep rolling with Kaskisuo as long as he's hot, rather than the guy who hasn't played in a couple of weeks. But having Hutchinson there will be a nice insurance policy for them if Kaskisuo's bubble eventually bursts.

That doesn't mean sandin will be better, if that's what you're implying.
 
I’m guessing he just means that we have very little context for what he’s doing right now. You look at U20 numbers in the AHL in the last 20 years and his numbers are impressive but he’s still doing this all a full year before them.
 
Couple of Marlies notes:

The Leafs have signed their 2016 2nd rounder, Yegor Korshkov, to a 3-year ELC. He'll apparently join the Marlies right away.

As well, the Marlies start game #1 of their second round playoffs series at 7 o'clock tonight.

TSN has announced that they'll be televising the entire series, so good news for anyone who wants to get a closer look at Sandin, Liljegren, Bracco and the rest.
