Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

I missed the OT goal but sounds like the puck went out of play and should have been blown dead just prior.

That's disappointing.

Marlies had a tonne of chances to put it away. They had a huge PP advantage. I actually turned it off pretty much right after the goal, so I didn't see the replays of the puck going out of play. That sucks.

Obviously you'd prefer for officials to get the call right, but I don't think this one is really that big a deal.

It's not like the puck went off the netting directly to a Charlotte player and they scored. It was kind of the opposite, actually.

The Marlies were the ones that ended up with possession of the puck after it went off the netting. They then carried the puck out of their zone and started breaking up the ice through the neutral zone on an odd-man rush before coughing up the puck. It was at that point that Charlotte came back and scored.

An unfortunate end to their season still, but pretty remarkable that they got as far as they did with the lineup they had in place. At the end of the day, it's just nice that guys like Sandin, Liljegren, Moore, Bracco, etc all got some additional playoff experience.

Ah, that’s a bit less heartbreaking then. From the games I saw, the Checkers were just a better team.

Prospect update:

  • Since the last time I did one of these, there's been a few changes. Carl Grundstrom and Sean Durzi have been removed, for obvious reasons. Morgan Klimchuk (who we acquired for Andrew Nielsen) was traded to Ottawa for Gabriel Gagne.

  • I'm going to include Michael Hutchison in these stats. He's not a "prospect", but frankly, I'm interested to keep track of how he does down there with his status as our 3rd goalie. I'm also going to omit his numbers from his time with Florida's farm team, and just track his performance with the Marlies.

  • A couple of Mark Hunter 2nd rounders (Rasanen & Korshkov) recently returned from injuries that had kept them out for all but the first 5-6 games of the KHL season. Rasanen's first five games back from injury happened on loan to a team in the Finnish league's second division. But it looks like that was just a conditioning stint, since he's rejoined his KHL team.

Any end of season update to this?

Nope, I got lazy.

Outside of a couple of guys, our prospects were just so damn dull to track this year.

But I'll try to get around to putting together an updated list in the next couple of days that'll also include the kids we picked up in this year's draft. Been meaning to do that.
