Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

Petan with 1g, 3a tonight.

Super elite AHL'er...fringy NHL'er. He's more than welcome to stick around and make 1-way contract dough for putting up 100 points a year for the Marlies so the kids can forever develop in a winning environment though.

Liljegren with 1g, 2a tonight.

Not one of the top 30 prospects from his draft according to the prospect guru on the Athletic's payroll. 53 point pace, match up pairing RHD with fringe elite skating, 20 yrs old.

Clownshoes.

Dubas could make a bold move, at the trade deadline and bring in Lilly. Like trading a monster, like Muzzin and or Barrie. Be a bold fuckin move though.

Might define him. Keefe hiring is making him look real good. But I think Lilly will do really well at the NHl level. Kid is getting crazy big.

And the kid can play.

In the meantime, very enjoyable to see what we have, do very well.

Sandin at 29 and Robertson at 53 are absolutely ridiculous picks.

Sandin for sure.

Robertson, don't get me wrong, I'm on the hype train. But I want to temper my expectations with him a little bit until he puts up numbers at a higher level of competition.

I get wanting to temper expectations and all... but regardless of what he does next if you can get a guy at 53 who's doing what he's doing at the OHL level, it's a great pick, IMO.

And the kid is gritty. There have been many great scorers at the OHL level that fizzle at higher levels. But this kid obviously has the Hyman effect.

And please don't take that wrong lol.

If he has been born a couple weeks later....where do you think he'd be drafted next summer?

Hm, not sure. Looks like his production is still quite a bit lower than CHL forwards like Lafreniere (1st by ISS), Byfield (7th) Rossi (11th).

But comparable production to Perfetti who ISS has 6th and is less than 4 months older. And much better some of the CHL guys ranked in the 20s.

Think we got definite first round quality in the second round.

18 year old seasons in OHL since 2010:
12. Hayton - 39 gp, 26 gls, 66 pts, 1.69 ppg
13. De Brincat - 60 gp. 51 g;s. 101 pts, 1.68 ppg
14. Konecny - 60 gp, 40 gls, 101 pts, 1.68 ppg
15. Frost - 67 gp, 42 gls, 112 pts, 1.67 ppg
16. Dal Colle - 56 gl, 42 gls, 93 pts, 1.66 ppg

18. Akil Thomas - 63 gp, 38 gls, 102 pts, 1.62 ppg
19. Roberton - 22 gp, 23 gls, 35 pts, 1.59 ppg
20. Toffoli - 68 gp, 57 gls, 107 pts, 1.59 ppg
(Kadri - 56 gp, 25 gls, 78 pts, 1.56 ppg)
21. Suzuki - 64 gp, 42 gls 100 pts, 1.56 ppg
22. Mascherin - 65 gp, 35 gls, 65 pts, 1.54 ppg
23. Robert Thomas - 49 gp, 23 gls, 75 pts, 1.53 ppg
24. Manginapane - 68 gp, 43 gls, 104 pts, 1.53
25. Domi - 61 gp, 34 gls 93 pts, 1.52.

Lots of good top 6 NHLers on that list. He's clearly behind the elite prospects, but easily should have been a first round pick. Probably in the teens.

Its early but he doesn't look any worse than guys like Boldy, Newhook, Krebs, Poulin, Tomiasino, Pelletier, Foote, Suzki, Tracey, Beacher. And has been a lot better than a lot of them.

Is it possible Robertson's ready as soon as next season? Friedman speculated he could be an emergency call up this season even.
