Leafs' Prospect/Marlies Discussion Thread!

I know they don't like to rush their prospects but I'd much rather have Robertson and Amirov's offensive skill in the bottom 6 next year for $1.6 mill than Simmonds and deal with whatever issues come with the rookies.
 
I kind of signing high-end free agents and trading our guys.

I like Rielly, but if the Leafs can sign Hamilton (or another high-end defender) and trade Rielly for high-end picks/prospects/players on good contracts. I say it needs to be explored.
 
Rielly - Brodie
Dermott - Holl
Sandin - Liljegren

Is probably a step back but cheaper and with all sorts of upside.

Bring back Bogo as well for some experience and toughness.

If Rielly’s still a Leaf next season without a contract extension in place, be prepared for the Dregers and Friedmans of the world to suddenly recognize him as an elite #1 defenseman, and go on constantly about him deserving an 8-year/$88M contract.
 
Maybe Sandin is the answer on the PP, but I really think they need to explore options on the backend that can help in that regard.
 
They should sign Rielly this offseason coming off of a good, but not great year points wise and with the flat cap pressure and Pietrangalo's comp fresh.

There is literally no reason not to sign him this offseason.

Waiting to sign these guys till the last second has fucked them every time.

Can’t assume both Sandin and liljegren are ready. Big risk. Neither has shown the ability to play five straight games without some unevenness at nhl level (more so Sandin who has had more chances)

Rather have dermott and Holl fight those two for the 5/6/7 positions and get some guys that are ready for 3/4. Can’t expect to go through a season without injuries and that depth sucks that you have listed there. Moreover, really questionable if that 2nd pairing won’t be AHL/bottom pair level.

Not good enough. They should grab Hamilton and ditch Holl. They can get something pretty decent for him too.
