Les Habitants Prospects Thread

Also remember, this fourth line surge started after Heineman was added to that line and he has been playing like a power forward opening up ice for Evans. This isn't Evans alone.

That's in 4 years and in your estimation. Do you think Molson will wait another 4 years after pushing the "in the mix" narrative?

That is the contenders phase. Not playoff making phrase.

I expect a stop gap until then (whether it's Evans or something else).

There needs to be one and if there's someone better available I'm all for it.

A 30 point centre that kills penalties should be available. If that is Evans. Great. If it is beck. Even better. If it's someone else that is okay too.

Two rookie centers? Yeah I'd like to retain Evans if possible. The rest can go.

This alone can pay for it

He's 28. I would do five year @ $4m max. Remember that the cap will spike in the next two years.
This!

He will be a good deal at the end of his deal.

Just fully open to be traded in a dump with a pick if he falls off too far.

About time this org finds a Swede, his game reminds me of Johan Franzen

The Habs are the most storied franchise in hockey, but they have the shittiest history of Swedish players of any franchise that wasn't created within the last 20 years.

It's embarrassingly bad. This team has never had three Swedes on the roster simultaneously and Sweden's probably the third or fourth best country at producing players.

I don't think we had any impactful Swedish players besides Naslund (one season of Dahlin doesn't count).

What I never understood was why the org didn’t engage Naslund in some capacity as their go to guy in Sweden? Would’ve thought they’d do the same w Koivu in Finland.

I did the research a year so ago, either after the 2022 or 2023 draft, but pop quiz: Who's the second best Swede to play for the Habs? Everyone knows the best is Naslund, but after that? An absolutely dreadful lineup.

Could be Peter Popovic and his 303 games with us. It might be Niklas Sundstrom and his 154 games & 49 points before finishing his career in Sweden. After that, though, there's nobody else of note.

The same reason they never hired Larry Robinson as a coach and their insistence on moving away from their roots. For the very longest time, this organization had the attitude of, we're better and classier than you! without much proof to support said claim.

Kjell Dahlin had 40 good games

I'm really looking at 4 years for habs to be contenders.

At centre we will look like

Suzuki
Hagens /Misa / Hage / Something
Dach
Beck
Kapenen
Davidson

Don't see a place for Evans with real money.
Or Dach on the wing and Evans as 3C.

It’s like the org gave up on Swedes after the failed Kjellbetg/Carnbak experiment
