Les Habitants Prospects Thread

I doubt he’s untouchable. It’s his 3rd year and he’s not really progressing, in fact he’s regressing this year. Doesn’t mean he’s on the market but I’m sure there can be talks about him.

Random thought, I hope Ohio State is able to build up their hockey program and make it respectable in the next decade.

If Emmett Croteau and Mikus Vecvanags can get spots in the NCAA, Miller can too.

Forget a top program, a team like University of Vermont or Arizona State or Benjadi State could use a goalie.

Dunno why a 20 years old would pick BCHL over NCAA if it was option.
Because he can't go right now. The new rules start only in August. Nobody playing in the CHL right now can stop & head to the NCAA tomorrow.

This is all assuming he's academically eligible and he actually wants to go the college route.

Heard some interesting stuff (two scouts talking on the radio) about what happens when top prospects start getting paid in the NCAA and then just wait it out until UFAs.

It's almost an irrelevant factor. NIL money affects almost uniquely football, and a little bit basketball. And even then, virtually no prospects of any note stay in college longer than they have to. The ones with no pro prospects milk it out as long as they can, especially quarterbacks. Everyone else goes pro because there's more money available to them.

Take Lane Hutson, for example: There's no world where the NCAA would ever be more profitable for him than going pro last Spring. Some players in the NCAA can go pro in Spring, burn the first year of an ELC, be awesome immediately, and get a lucrative contract ~15 months after going pro. Hutson's eligible for a contract extension effective July 1st. It shouldn't be shocking to anyone if he got a long-term contract this summer.

Are you interested in hearing the convo? I can track it down for you if you'd like.

Sure, I'd listen. But from my point of view, there's not enough interest to generate real NIL money for college hockey, whether via attendance or TV ratings.

Sorry. It was two agents talking. Pretty cool convo (I only listened for about 30 mins).

Hymans agent and strakas former agent.

They seemed to think more NIL was coming for hockey players (but rules make it easier for American hockey players).

They talked about the one agents Russian client now going to NCAA, and stuff like that
