Les Habitants Prospects Thread

He's been consistently a top 10 goal scorer in the league for the last decade, your standards are impossibly high. I'd be quite happy if CC matches Max output.

I am referring to shot creation and release ability

Laine , Ovy , Matthews have cannons for releases

50 goals for them with half of them being rockets is different

I get that goals are goals but Max never had that lethal shot

Its like Tom Wilson scoring 30 VS Drouin scoring 30

Who would you fear more , the ballerina or Brock Lesnar on skates

Hence why I said you standards are impossibly high. You're comparing to Ovy, Matthews, Laine, McDavid.

Max has a wicked wrister, but yeah, CC's shot seems to be even better.

Yeah...for me to consider CC as a potential elite player, I would have to see evidence that he can create his own scoring opportunities -- which
I have not seen yet.

Yes, that's the big question mark for me as well. He can finish no doubt about it, but I'm unclear on how much he can generate chances.

Max was a maybe when drafted , there was no hype around his goal scoring ability

CC had the height issue but his shot and hands were well on display and hyped well before his draft year

If he was 6 feet , he goes top 5-7

How he turns out time will tell but we havent had this shooter since Richer in the system

For those interested, Simon Boisvert had an interview this AM in French. There isn't anyone in the scouting community whose opinion I take more seriously than his:

A good chunk of the interview was about Caufield.

Points brought up:

-They talked about a Cole Caufield comparable and because there are so few players of his stature in the NHL, the easy comparable is Alex Debrincat, but they don't play the same game.

-Says to keep reasonable expectations on him. Not to expect him to be an offensive dynamo from the day he gets here.

-Doesn't think Caufield should be in the NHL this year; he should go straight to Laval and if he dominates there, give him a call-up to play some games in the NHL with focus on the powerplay. Mentions how there have been a few players, including Alex Turcotte, who went from the NCAA to pro this year & aren't lighting the world on fire.

-Asked his thoughts on Romanov, one of the youngest players in the league, thinks there's been a lot of adaptations for him such as ice surface, that he hasn't been surrounded well (used to example of Hughes playing with Tanev when he got to the NHL while Romanov was mostly with Kulak/Mete), thinks he should have been in Laval, his opinion hasn't changed since the beginning of the year & he believes he's a good top-4 d-man but not a top-2 and doesn't think he's got a ton of offensive upside. Thinks the expectations with him weren't reasonable.

-Doesn't have any belief in Norlinder, doesn't think he'll ever play in the NHL. Says you'll be very disappointed if you think so.

Yeah that shot is lethal. The issue in the NHL will be time and space. Will he get enough time to get that shot off?

The kid has scored at every level, every age. I think there’s an 80 percent chance that will continue in the NHL.
I've no doubt he can score 30, none at all. What I am hoping for is that shot translating to 50 goals in a season eventually.

And to your point, he's never played against players as fast and talented as in the NHL so while his track record is great, many have floundered once up. No I don't think he will but the possibility is always there.

That’s why I said 80 percent, not 100 percent. But I doubt he’ll score 50, who other than Ovie does? I can definitely see at least a couple of 40 goal seasons, however.

That shot can score 50. It’s take 20 pp goals likely but that has got to be the best shot I’ve seen since OV and Bossy. His release is nuts and the accuracy is mind-boggling.
