Nothing on the list should be a surprise or seem outlandish. The US has been asking for privileged access to critical minerals for a while. They already have a veto over our ability to negotiate certain trade deals through the non-market economy clause in CUSMA (which followed not long after our FTA talks with China broke down). The infrastructure investment piece is sort of new but also along similar themes and designed to keep us from doing business with China. Matching sanctions is another long-standing demand and sort of ties into the s.301 forced labour investigation that was the pretence for these latest tariffs to begin with.

And of course none of this compares to directly threatening our sovereignty, this 51st state bullshit, or posting pictures of Canada as US territory on a map in the Oval Office.

So I’d say if anyone wasn’t mad enough before, it is time to get mad. They are coming for us. The only thing that might stop them is their ineptitude and impending internal collapse. Annexing Canada is on Dotard’s bucket list and there are no elements of the US establishment that will do anything to stop him. The Dotard wing of the Republican Party controls everything. Aside from those people, there are only feckless critics and enablers.

I would announce a couple of big projects. e.g. Churchill port. Labrador Trench mines. Lithium. Hydrogen. Gas to Germany.
