Jealousy is a hell of a drug.
A little early to assume MacKay is going to be the Conservative leader.
I'm not assuming he will be. And I personally hope he won't be.
In my adult life, I have voted both Conservative and Liberal at the Federal level, so I really would like it if the CPC offered me a compelling alternative to Trudeau in the next election. But it seems that in the modern Conservative Party, it's a prerequisite for the leader to be a social conservative and an anti-carbon tax crusader who offers no credible alternative plan for dealing with climate change.
And both of those are complete non-starters for me, especially when combined with being an inept schmuck like MacKay and Scheer are.
Ya don't get me wrong I feel for anyone working a low paying job without benefits. I'm talking more about the trades guys. Most of them make great coin, full benefits etc.I mean, yeah, I'm priviledged as hell to be able to work from home or work remotely. And I can understand that those who can't work from home probably feel like they're being ignored in all of this. And obviously the fact that office jobs tend to have better medical coverage, insurance packages, and people working them often are more well-off that they aren't living paycheck to paycheck, I could imagine the frustration.
I think it’s absolutely fantastic and as many people that are able to, should be. Also makes it safer for people who don’t have an option like me.Ya don't get me wrong I feel for anyone working a low paying job without benefits. I'm talking more about the trades guys. Most of them make great coin, full benefits etc.
And ya it sucks that they can't work from home, but that doesn't mean they should be rallying against those who can from doing so. It's in everybody's interest.
So, unless someone stands athwart the march of history, crying ‘No!’ a new convention will be established. None of the incipient new conventions outlined above can be allowed to stand, or Responsible Government in Canada is over. Full Stop.
So, it appears that the emergency COVID-19 bill that was going to be passed by unanimous consent in Parliament today has been torpedoed by one grand-standing Conservative MP who insisted on showing up in Parliament in person today to stop the bill.
He's referring to it as a "Henry VII bill" for allowing the executive to function without Parliament, and says:
JT just came out with some really really good stuff for small businesses.
In both languages.
