Jealousy is a hell of a drug.

I mean, yeah, I'm priviledged as hell to be able to work from home or work remotely. And I can understand that those who can't work from home probably feel like they're being ignored in all of this. And obviously the fact that office jobs tend to have better medical coverage, insurance packages, and people working them often are more well-off that they aren't living paycheck to paycheck, I could imagine the frustration.

A little early to assume MacKay is going to be the Conservative leader.

I'm not assuming he will be. And I personally hope he won't be.

In my adult life, I have voted both Conservative and Liberal at the Federal level, so I really would like it if the CPC offered me a compelling alternative to Trudeau in the next election. But it seems that in the modern Conservative Party, it's a prerequisite for the leader to be a social conservative and an anti-carbon tax crusader who offers no credible alternative plan for dealing with climate change.

And both of those are complete non-starters for me, especially when combined with being an inept schmuck like MacKay and Scheer are.

I really don't understand the plan. To me, it would be an obvious case for a guy like MacKay to be a centrist, don't go 100% "WE'RE CANCELLING THE CARBON TAX THE MINUTE THE VOTES ARE COUNTED", but play a more moderate position in order to win. They always seem to assume that they're going to win, rather than be like the Liberals where you promise a ton in order to win, and then when you get in power, change which of those are things you actually do.

Ya don't get me wrong I feel for anyone working a low paying job without benefits. I'm talking more about the trades guys. Most of them make great coin, full benefits etc.

And ya it sucks that they can't work from home, but that doesn't mean they should be rallying against those who can from doing so. It's in everybody's interest.

I think it’s absolutely fantastic and as many people that are able to, should be. Also makes it safer for people who don’t have an option like me.
Will probably cut down on MVAs with less people commuting and we can save those resources.

So, it appears that the emergency COVID-19 bill that was going to be passed by unanimous consent in Parliament today has been torpedoed by one grand-standing Conservative MP who insisted on showing up in Parliament in person today to stop the bill.

He's referring to it as a "Henry VII bill" for allowing the executive to function without Parliament, and says:

So, unless someone stands athwart the march of history, crying ‘No!’ a new convention will be established. None of the incipient new conventions outlined above can be allowed to stand, or Responsible Government in Canada is over. Full Stop.

I mean, the Liberals were idiots to ask for basically unlimited power until almost 2022, but yeah, welcome to life of one guy who can torpedo an 82B bailout package.

Looks like the increases to the Baby Bonus and GST will not be seen until May.

And it will now take 14 days instead of 10 to get paid once you sign up for EI or the new Benefit.

If anyone needed to see the massive difference between our political culture and American political culture it's in the attitudes towards this crisis of our nuttiest right wing Premiers. Dougie has been mostly class and on point, and Kenney has been solid AF.

Yeah, I wouldn't have taken the bet in a million years that Ford would say nice things about the Star and that Kenney would defend Trudeau in the same week.
