New Canadian Politics Thread

So if I get the emergency benefit, how much should I put aside that I’ll have to pay in tax do you think? I’ve never collected except when I was on mat leave but it was considerably less.
I think I read somewhere that if you collect the total $8k available it's low end $1200 and high end $2k. But like it was mentioned above, it's dependant on your tax bracket.

That was my understanding too. So my guess would be around 25-30%, but obviously will depend a lot on how the rest of your income has changed compared to past years, how much you put to RRSPs, what your actual tax bracket is, etc...

My wife is a fee-for-service doctor, Ontario government set up new codes for her to practice Telehealth medicine, of course none of them work so she hasn't been paid for two months. Yay! Not that anyone feel sorry for family doctors it seems, but this is been a really tough time for her and none of the relief money really applies to her situation.

Is she part of that shitshow Phoenix pay system I keep hearing nothing but bad things about?

Yeah let's tone down the Ford praise a bit please. I'm relieved that he's not a complete jackass and all but the praise is making me uncomfortable.

Yeah... he still sucks. He's handling this pretty well and better than I thought and I'll give him credit for that but you can't just ignore how politicians treat your health care system until there's a pandemic.

I guess this is a reminder that canadian gun death statistics only look good compared to the USA and we are way behind most other western countries.

You guys don't have a pesky 2nd amendment.

I'm sure it doesn't help that guns come in from the USA all the time either.
