New Canadian Politics Thread

A perfect illustration as to what type of people we have to deal with here if things get heavy.

Yeah, Lilley is the perfect example of a fake-patriot right-wing shitheel who’d turn Quisling on Canada at the drop of a hat.

He’d grovel, scrape and bow before his new American overlords for the chance to become a Canadian correspondent on FoxNews, or the assistant press secretary for the American Gauleiter of Canada.

Yes, but I think some of that bounce is already priced in. Voters know it's not Trudeau, which is probably more important than specifically who the replacement is.
If Freeland gets in there won't be any bounce. If the Cons were smart, they wouldn't be urging their bots to join the Liberals in order to push the candidacy of a fringe nutter like Ruby Dhalla; they'd be telling them to vote for Freeland.

Freeland is just Trudeau with a high pitched, annoying, scolding voice. She can't win a general election. But Carney can and Pee-Pee knows it.

Choice is limited.

Freeland took too long to stand up to Trudeau and Carney has been an unofficial and for the past several months an official advisor to Trudeau.

Poilievre has so far been nothing but sleazy and slogans

I really don’t get this criticism of Carney. He’s advised both Harris and Trudeau and Trudeau turned to him in an unprecedented emergency due to his economic expertise. Is that the part you don’t like about Trudeau - his economic response to COVID?

Meanwhile you expressed to us the inconvenience and frustration here when the convoyers took over your city and PP right cozied up to them.

aaaand I should have just kept reading before complaining...

Think it's going to be mega tight. Despite what polls will say Carney will always be the underdog in this race.

To be clear, in the national polls PP is still way ahead. What we're seeing is a shift in the Ontario level federal polling though. I think we're still going to see PP win the popular vote regardless, because he's going to crush in the middle of the country more or less unopposed in most ridings.

There's definitely a growing path to another liberal minority under Carney in those Ontario numbers. There's no regional data breakdown in that mainstream poll, so we don't know if PP suffers from similar inefficiencies in rural Ontario while losing in the 416/905.
