New Canadian Politics Thread

Another former mayor running for liberals in Alberta. Something is in the air out here telling these ppl they have a chance. This is lethbridge which has always been conservative federally but provincial has had NDP. Liberals only had 15 percent let federal election

Not 100% certain but I thought PP’s riding became more rural after the last boundary change (2022?)

From looking through his electoral record, it looks like the last major boundary change for PP's riding took effect for the 2015 election. And his margins of victory have decreased since the change.

Still though, we're talking about going from him getting around 55% of the vote beforehand, to 46-49% of the vote since the change. And he managed to get 49.9% of the vote in the last election in spite of the fact the People's Party pulled in 2.4% of the vote in his riding.

He’s been very consistent on this since winning the Liberal leadership.

And as of today, he still hasn’t so much as spoken to Trump on the phone since becoming PM.

Love the strategy and hope he sticks with it.

Yeah, I mean at some point he'll have to talk to Trump, but definitely it's another way to basically have a "show us respect" and implying that PP would go in groveling.

Has anybody in the history of politics done as poor a job of meeting the moment as jagmeet? Jeeze what a dud.

Actually @CH1 he’s my third best call. I met him a few years ago and couldn’t believe how unimpressive he was. He was with Olivia who was owning the room while he slunk by meekly behind her.

Yeah. He’s going straight to zero. No bounce
