New Canadian Politics Thread

So, out of curiosity, I thought I’d check the current 338.ca projection for Jagmeet Singh’s riding.

And, uhhh, holy shit:

Singh was expected to lose it to Conservative candidate back when PP was on his way to 200+ seats. Now the liberal is most assuredly going to slaughter them both.

They redrew boundaries on Singh’s previous riding, which is not helping him. And of course he also isn’t from and doesn’t actually live in the province, never mind the riding.

I know that a lot can happen, but I don't see how a pivot works for Pierre. There is good polling that shows 50% of his voters are pretty much Maple Maga. Any hard pivot here to be as forceful with Trump as Carney has been is going to likely do 2 things 1) Alienate some of his base that is very pro Trump leading to them leaking to PPC or staying home on election day 2) The other ~50% likely to vote for him will see his smarmy bullshit next to Carney's very measured, firm, and frankly Prime Ministerial sounding approach and leak to the Liberals.

He was born in Toronto, and had only ever lived there, as well as Newfoundland, Windsor, Michigan & Brampton.

Yet upon becoming NDP leader, he picks a riding clear on the other side of the continent in spite of having zero connection to the riding, province or even the West in general. Never understood that.

"How do you like dem apples?" stock RISING

They were so fucking proud of him for looking like a smarmy douche too
