Liberal voters who have always screamed about strategic voting better be willing to live up to it next summer. Sure looks like the NDP is our best bet to punt this twat but 60% or more of voters splitting down the centre isn't going to get it done.
ugh even I'm not sure I could stomach Horwath. gross.

So annoying that the Ontario NDP just keeps trotting out the extremely uninspiring Andrea Horwath, and the Ontario Liberals reached back into their unpopular recent past to select as their leader some anonymous, bland party insider fucker who was in McGuinty & Wynne’s cabinets .

I won’t be surprised at all if Dougie manages to win another term as Premier.
I would be surprised if he doesn't.

the great irony seems to be that those who are screaming the loudest about our march to autocracy are actually the ones doing their darndest to ensure that takes place

They're only supporting their autocracy before the communists under their beds can take over and install their communist autocracy.

Ford will win another majority in Ontario unless he leaves the post to take over from Erin O'Toole.

The Ontario Liberals should actually have a pretty deep bench, but a lot of reasonable people have no interest in politics these days. And why would they? So we're left with a choice of lightweights and long-term party insiders, which is how you get an election between Ford, Del Duca and Horwath.

I mean, yeah.

I am admittedly very put off by the NDP's anti-semitic leanings and I think it colours my views of them generally.
I'm mostly put off by how they've recently decided to pretend they are environmentalist since that is now apparently a left-wing cause. Meanwhile, the whole reason for the party to exist is to be heavily pro-labour, (special focus on the manufacturing and extractive industries) damn the environmental cost.

Given how much I mocked Scheer as obviously unelectable just on the surface alone, I do have to point out that there is no chance in hell this face ever wins an election:

Many Liberal voters strategically voted NDP last time and it got us no where. Combine that with the Libs in second place (almost tied seat-wise with the right wingers) according to most polls. Voting NDP this time around likely should be re-considered if you want to remove the current government.

Del Duca was not a cabinet minister under McGuinty. He became a minister under Wynne.

History will be kind to the previous government. They did a lot for education (no teacher strikes under McGunity) and tons for environmental initiatives (the right wing party is starting to re-implement the same programs they cancelled) .

When I wrote that post, the Liberals were a distant 3rd in voter intention polling. That's not the case today. Liberals would obviously benefit from any strategic voting at this point, being 4-5 points back of the CPC in recent polling with the NDP dropping back again.

As a brief aside, that was not strategic voting in the previous election. That was "Liberals can go fuck themselves" voting, and it was well earned.

the best thing that the ON Libs have going for them is the blackmail Horwath surely has against the ON NDP party.

…and the worst thing they have going for them is that they’re the ON Libs.

And judging from their selection of Del Duca as leader and Bolduke’s comment about how kindly history’s going to judge them (if I’m remembering correctly, I believe he’s involved with the party in some capacity), the McGuinty/Wynne cohort of that party are still enamoured with the smell of their own farts.
