TORONTO - Reacting to news of Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow’s plan to hike property taxes by more than 10%, the 9 or so people that collectively own all Toronto real estate expressed outrage, saying that Chow is making the city unaffordable.

It's funny, when I first started telling people that I was planning a move to Mexico, I used to get a bunch of questions basically asking me if I had lost my fucking mind.

When I talk to people about it now though, no one questions it anymore.

My parents are currently going through 14k/month at a retirement residence. It’s abhorrent and absurd. The wait list for LTC is 3-5 years. Thankfully they sold their home and have the money to cover this and it will outlast them.

Future generations are complete effed without the 10+x returns on home equity, higher costs of living and astronomic and rising costs of that level of care.

It's an odd choice because when you walk in you really thunk it can't last much longer. Seems so little people go in there and it's all overpriced crap.

Pretty sure they still make a good margin selling to small and medium businesses. Still enough people need to print signs and flyers, I guess.

Not even counting the lack of pensions in jobs. Will be curious to see what a society does. There's only so many 80 year old Walmart greeters that we need to keep employing

So it’s basically an online supplier. I dunno if they own or lease their stores, but well situated real estate location can be good for balance sheets even if it’s not stellar in terms of cash flow.
