New Canadian Politics Thread

That really wouldn’t make any sense for the NDP MPs. They have a chance to exert some significant policy influence in exchange for agreeing to prop up Carney’s government. If they cross the floor, they’ll be the least significant backbenchers in a majority (and also likely ending their political careers).

Rumour from Alberta is that some NDP MPs are considering crossing the floor and becoming liberals to give the libs a majority.

If I were the PM, I'd stop that from happening immediately. Would undermine his movement.
There is one Alberta NDP (long time Edmonton NDP riding) and it is highly unlikely.

Ya. Makes little sense. But I bet the NDP are basically liberals in voting terms until they sort their shit out internally.

I'm more concerned by who he puts in cabinet. I really hope Green Jesus aka Guibeault is shut out of a spot. He's garbage.

There are a lot of options from QC and the cabinet will be smaller.

He’s toxic on the environment side, so if he survives it will be decidedly “social”.

On the other hand, him being Environment Minister again would make the Maple MAGA'S heads explode. If I were Carney I'd do it just to piss them off.

These provinces would be so broke on their own. I loved QC wanted out bad in 95' but said they'll still use Canadian $ and passports LOL.
Canada couldn't have stopped them from using the dollar but Quebec would have had no say in Canadian monetary policy. As for passports, well that was never up to Quebec any more than it's up to Canada to pay Trump's tariffs.
