Without watching the video, I'm going to bet that it's grade/route separation. A streetcar system sharing surface streets has all of the weaknesses of bus service, and none of the extra flexibility. Traffic jam? You're fucked. Construction? Also fucked.
Grade separated light rail completely ignores those problems though. Most modern tram networks have some form of grade separation. Most if not all of the street car coverage areas don't.

So please tell me, size wise, how a minivan and an suv differ? Honestly. Sure. An 8 cylinder Yukon/escalade/tahoe/navigator etc are gigantic and suck gas. There are electric trucks and SUVs. I have a Tiguan. Tiny shitbox that can only hit Costco OR Sobeys. Not both. How is someone with a family who plays sports supposed to get kids AND gear around in a tiny vehicle? Bring two?
