No Excuses No Limits! The mother fucking goddamn season thread

Butchered off-season for sure. Might be a waste of the season unless Tree Bitch can pull off a miracle and correct his mistakes. They are so close.

As an aside, looking at Doms model to see the difference in between the Leafs and Canes/Kings, and they don’t have anywhere near the top end talent, but both only have 2 negative players (Drury/Deangelo and Anderson-Dollan/Bjornfot).

The Leafs have 7 below -2. They really need to use their analytics department to find good depth players. It’s not even like they are spending scraps on those positions. They are spending $11 mill on 4 of those 7 (Klingberg, Domi, Kampf, Reaves).

Feel like it's too early to start talking waste of a season. We're second in P% in our division?
Wasted season if they don't do anything. Because they are not winning a cup in their current form. And they will do something so it's not too early to say that because moves will be made!

Tldr: tree bitch made a lot of horrible decisions that need to be corrected.

even just matthews and marner playing better which they're totally capable of and klingberg taking a permanent vacay to robidas island is gonna make us look better.

i don't think miracles are required. hit on the dman, pls.

It may be common sense to us, but it's not for everyone. This is why miracles are required:

I like the idea of turning Niemela into a trade chip. Have to start thinking about using some of their prospects as currency to obtain a long-term piece on the back end. I don't know if Hanifin is that guy (if he is I hope he comes with an extension) but they do require one. I know we like to pretend the depth thing is the only thing that would improve the team, but more than one thing can be true. Clean up the depth and get a top pair d (ideally a long-term piece) and I put this team up against anyone.

It’s not that bad. The crust is there. The sauce is there. The cheese is there.

Just need to replace the toasted sweet and sour croutons with some pepperoni and roasted garlic.

As long as it's long term, I approve. I don't want to fire 1sts and good prospects out the door at rentals though.

More "Muzzin" deals, less "Foligno" deals.

For sure, much prefer trading late 1sts than a prospect that is nearly fully baked for a rental. Niemela or even Minten (as much as it pains me because I love me a center prospect) could be moved for the right guy tbh. Knies, Cowan and Robertson are nearly untouchable for me. Nearly.

Then who would give up goals, not score goals, dominate OT faceoffs, and enforce with extreme prejudice??

The only reason you trade a prospect like that is if they're part of a package and you're bringing back a player with their potential impact, now.

Filip Forsberg is available for trade? Cool, I'll give up on seeing what Nicky can become, that's probably peak Nicky anyway and signed long term.

Definitely improving drastically over time.

Klingberg getting ditched and Kampf demoted are major reasons but also a lot of organic improvement.

Rielly is a bit of a concern but I chalk that decline up mostly to him getting swamped with big and tough minutes with all the injuries.

Up front Matthews and Marner have to be better, especially Mitch.

And that 4th line is still a disgrace even at it's current greatly improved level.

Mo is just way better feasting in secondary matchups, particularly in playoff hockey against a team with a lot of firepower up front. We know this about him by now. Finding someone in that 1/2 slot + fixing the 4th line + some organic Mitch & Cock improvement = cup
